Children of Buddha by Piotr Kowalski

Photography is my way of expressing emotions through pictures. A meaningful photo is the one that can render the 'energy' of a place, person or situation. This energy is condensed emotion, influencing spectators and eliciting their spur-of-the-moment reactions. A good picture doesn't need further description or explanation in order to get to our emotions.

Photographing „Children of Buddha” was a major challenge for me; not only professionally but also emotionally. I often had to put my camera aside, because at the moment I felt it was more important to provide medical assistance, or to buy crayons and a pad to organize a child’s first drawing lesson. I also remember how I felt when the theme of the drawings all the children spontaneously chose was a home.

Was I able to capture all these emotions in my photos? It is for you to judge. I would be grateful for all or criticism. Welcome to „Children of Buddha”.
